About Barnabas House

Barnabas House is a registered benevolent institution with a focus on providing affordable short term access (up to three months) to a clean, safe and caring environment for people of all age, status, cultural and social backgrounds who find themselves in a difficult situation and have no other option for accommodation in the short term.

In Partnership with business houses, service clubs, welfare agencies, government departments and local churches, Barnabas House is unique in nature and is the only facility of its kind within a 200km radius. Set on 1.7 hectares within a short walk to the CBD, the facility has 27 single units, 6 family units, 1 caretaker residence, an administration building and an outlet for pre-loved clothing, furniture and household items. Recent improvements to the site have included the installation of a 50kW solar panel system, a children’s playground, a carport,a laundrette for the residents  and an undercover maintenance area and storage unit.

The whole site is a drug and alcohol free zone and all potential residents are tested as part of their intake interview. A security gate is locked at 11pm which restricts access to the site by cars and visitors. Visitors are not allowed on site after this time. This is all to ensure we are able to maintain a peaceful, safe and family friendly facility.
